The landscape is beautiful, clear water, fine sand, the sun now though. Otherwise, the food, service and jovial staff are inadequate. But the worst is that male cats urinating everywhere (including on my luggage), jumping on tables, eating our plates. The smell is disgusting. I've never seen that. Has a totally discouraged as long as the problem is corrected. More

The place (location, beach and peacefulness) is beautiful, no question about it. Diving is nice, but not extraordinary. Be that as it may, safety is really poor! Best is to bring your own diving gear. A diver I met there showed me a leaking BCD he had been given; he exchanged it and tied a knot on a strap to... More

if your mind is set on something larger than bugs (...you find them anywhere - come on, give me something better!) this is a great place!!! diving is fab but yes, i agree, security isn't the main issue for people working there. however, if you have diving experience, i recommend this spot highly! Important to realise this resort is infested with little buggers that bite you to death from about 5PM through the evening...through the night...and onto around noon....they are tiny black indians with arrows... We returned to UK two days ago and still covered and itching!!!!! DEET 100%!!!!.... :-( More

If you go to Cuba, this is a place to visit. The hotel is located at a natural park, in the middle of nowhere - a perfect paradise! The hotel is very nice&quiet, big&clean rooms, nice restaurant, friendly people. Don't expect any wild nightlife, because there isn't any. This is a place for relaxing and enjoying the nature. We stayed... More

I had a great time...however, I feel it is important to mention/note and inform future customers that the dive crew does not meet international diving standards for the following reasons. 1. No buddy checks 2. No buddy required 3. No equipment checks 4. Faulty equipment - often leaking, damaged mouthguards and depth gauges that were not correct. 5. Divers allowed... More

December 21, 2008 - January 1, 2009 North Vancouver, Canada We were a family of 4 divers who spent 10 days at the resort doing 3 dives a day. Had a fabulous time and thought Orlando was a very professional dive master. If Spanish is not your first language there might be a language barrier but being a qualified diver... More

Group of 8 divers stayed at Maria la Gorda for one week. We had the unfortunate instance of one of our members experiencing an "undeserved" DCS hit, requiring an air evac to Havana and 3 chamber rides. He did not exceed his computer's limits but with other circumstances (diarrhea and dehydration) and diving close to the limits created the problem.... More

We stayed in Maria la Gorda for 3 nights in June. We thought the diving and snorkelling were superb. The diving equipment is getting old, and many of the depth guages don't work - check the equipment before bringing it down to the boat, and ask for better gear if you can't read the dials. On the plus side, the... More

if you are thinking of driving from havana to MLG, it takes about 5 hrs, roads are not bad, but there are very few directions. dont drive above the speed limit - you will get fined. the chalets are much better than the accomodation on the beach front (ie dont ask for sea view - 5CUC extra). the dive instructors...
