This review is for my fellow Oregonians and I run the risk of sounding a bit spoiled, but here is my take on this attraction: The road that leads you here is a very long and winding one. By the time you reach this destination, assuming you left west Maui at around 7am, it will be around 3pm. By now,... More

We stayed near Hana and set out for this hike fairly early to beat the crowds. We ran across a few people but for the most part were alone on most of the trail. Definitely recommend good walking shoes as the trail is not even and smooth. You may have to cross a stream or two. Bamboo forest is cool.... More

Enjoyed the hike through bamboo forest. Trails did tend to get crowded at times. This could be a problem during the busy time of year.

Lots of scenic points a long the way including waterfalls, a bamboo forest, several streams and a huge waterfall at the end. No bathroom so go at the visitor center ahead of time. Bring some food to have a snack before you head back. Expect to take about an hour there and an hour back give or take and wear... More

The hike was fun and the trail was in good condition. At 61 years old I was concerned about making it all the way but passing people coming down assured me it wasn't bad. I will do it again next trip to the island, the falls are worth the effort. Do take a bottle of water or even two.

I just emailed a good friend saying, "you haven't seen Maui until you hike the Pipiwai Trai." There are several comments stating "that the Pipiwai Trail is the best in Hawaii." Indeed! Located by the Seven Sacred Pools, this moderate trail is easy to find. Just watch out for the traffic as you cross the two lane road. The Pipiwai... More

Wonderful Hike to the waterfall with great things to see along the way. Definitely worth the hike up. It should take you 1-1.5 hours up depending on how much you stop and your pace. We found wonderful trees, bamboo forests, water falls, etc. on our way up so we stopped to take some pictures. Fortunately we went earlier in the... More

This is a long hike, 2 miles each way so be prepared. If you are fit, this is definitely the best hike you can do in Maui. The views are breathtaking. The bamboo forest (at 1.2miles) in particular is something extraordinary. The hike is uphill but not too hard except for the last part where you have to cross a... More
