My wife and I took this drive to the East Rim after having seen from the South Rim. While by far and away the South Rim has the most breathtaking views, the other vantage points as you curl SE to E lend different perspective, angles, lighting and their own unique beauty to this great wonder. My wife and I also... More

You must drive along the East Rim Drive when you visit GCNP. We drove on our way out of the park, having entered from the south. There are lookout points every few miles, and you can start to see the Colorado river at some points, as you drive further east. At one point we saw some California Condors. Be sure... More

We entered the south rim from its east entrance and did this 26 mile drive to the south rim in 3 hours. We stopped at each and every view point and took lots of pictures. Do stop at every point and enjoy the beauty of the Grand Canyon. The first stop is the Desert View point with the watch tower.... More

We took this drive in the AM after breakfast and had to stop at every pulloff. Each was another great experience. We spent about 3 hours on the 20 mile drive.

Every stop offers a spectacular view. The Desert View stop with the funky Colter-designed tower is a trip. Be aware that there are numerous elk around the road who do cross and will leave a serious dent in your car, should you hit one!

This is a nice drive if you are continuing on a road trip and don't want to go back the way you came.. If you go this way, stop at the Watch tower. Wish the drive itself had more canyon views, but there are lots of places to stop and take in the sights!

You can't go to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon without taking the East Rim Drive. I would suggest turning off at each available exit on this drive because he one provides different views that will be excellent photo opportunities. If you don't stop it will likely take about 30 minutes but it is worth stopping at all of... More

We did this for the first time this time and were so amazed. Every parking place gives you new perspectives and it always looks different. We loved it and got lost in gazing at all the wonderful formations.

Provides excellent views of the canyon from great vantage points along the rim. There are plenty of pull-ins for parking while you take photos.

Great & best views, fewer people. Short drive from the main areas. Very different than the Bright Angel area views. Good cell service too !
