The dogs were not typical huskies as we had expected. They looked sad and were either chained or caged. There was a lot of talking with some interesting information imparted but the demonstration was brief and boring.

You should not miss this one! You will learn sled dog history and see the sled dog demo. It was great for my kids and us to see so many friendly sled dogs and touch them!
The whole family enjoyed the visit to the sled dog demonstration. The one we went to was that National Park Rangers. These are real working dogs and you are able to go right up to. They explain how they work, why they do what do, and then give a great demonstration.
The kids really loved petting the dogs and getting...

Short, free demonstration put on by the National Park Service. Great to actually see how the park uses these animals. The animals themselves were great and you did get the chance to pet and see the dogs up close. Definitely an activity to do while in the Park
The Sled Dog demonstration was wonderful. This demonstration is wonderful for young and old. The presentation is very informative and free and as a bonus you get to interact with the dogs for about 30 minutes prior to the presenation.
These dogs traverse approximately 3000 miles of park during the winter months.

Definitely a stopover if you are in the park. The huskies are super friendly. Even my wife who is afraid of dogs felt comfortable in petting them. Any dog or animal lover would love the demonstration and the ranger talk about the huskies, their breeding and their involvement in the park.
They still use them for sledge patrols in winters...

So cool to be able to go up to all the dogs & pat them. The info ranger Jack gave us was awesome & the demo. It's great to learn about their working winter lives & what there jobs are. So worth going to.
Not only do you get to see how the sled dogs pull a sled, you learn about how they work through the winter to help the rangers patrol the Park. The most enthusiastic group at the demonstration is always the dogs!
Very much worth your time. You get to pet the dogs and it was very interesting to hear from the Ranger the history' and how they still use the dogs. Fun to see them pull and run.
This is a must do on your list while in the park. They even provided umbrellas when it started raining during the demonstration. These amazing dogs and the park staff deserve a huge thank you from all of us for their energy and enthusiasm for what they do.
