Visited The Lady Lever Gallery especially to see the Gauguin and Van Gogh Self-Portraits on loan from Paris. Breathtaking and very moving. Then looked around the rest of the Gallery - well I say 'rest' but going back for another visit to see what we missed! Wonderful - every exhibit clearly labelled with loads of information. Airy and light. Very... More

Situated in the fascinating setting of Port Sunlight village, the Lady Lever Art Gallery is impressive both inside and out. The gallery building and its immediate surroundings are striking; the tone is set by an elegant obelisk that soars upward, topped by a figure that reaches to the sky, the whole denoting 'Inspiration'. The gallery collections include both painting, much... More

The exhibitions are quite wide ranging and have various different themes. They are set in a great building and the area of Port Sunlight is a peaceful setting and well worth as diversion to see. More

The Lady Lever Gallery is part of the Merseyside museums, but doesn't seem to get the huge number of visitors the others (Walker, Maritime, etc) get as it's a bit out of the way. As it's only 15 mins on the Underground from Liverpool Pier Head, it's worth a detour as the gallery and its surroundings are unique. More

The art gallery is in the middle of the Lever village - Port Sunlight - so as well as the gallery you get to see/tour a wonderful purpose built factory community. The gallery is incredible, and they only have some of the art on show. We saw a great Exhibition of photographs whilst we were there, and were blown away... More

I am not a natural art gallery visitor but I had a fantastic time. The gallery staff were really excellent and one of them helped us on the start of the tour.. A couple of things were really marvellouse. A weigth driven 18th centry organ clock in the first room and a great collection of Wedgewood. George Stubbs enamelled plaques... More

I've wanted to visit the Lady Lever Art Gallery and Port Sunlight for years and finally manged to do it! The gallery didn't disappoint at all - being a big Pre-Raphaelite fan I was awe-inspired to see a good selection of Millais, Waterhouse and Holman Hunt paintings. Seeing them in situ instead of in books was wonderful and the setting... More

Everytime I visit this wonderful gallery I marvel at the fact I can stand close to a Holman-Hunt, Millais or a Rossetti without a crush of people jostling to do the same thing. The collection is simply breathtaking - built as a tribute to Lord Leverhulme's late wife the gallery's collection is simply stunning. If you are interested in Wedgewood... More

It was my second trip to Port Sunlight and the Lady Lever Art Gallery and I buzzed off it even more than more than the first. Historically it is so interesting; the Levers, their ethos and philosophy, the homes, schools and facilities they built for the workers, the factory.....all fascinating. The art gallery itself is free, as all art should be... More
