This is an extraordinary place and if you are anywhere near the Valnerina you must see it. The 'Piano Grande' is in fact the mouth of an extinct volcano. La bellezza del paesaggio merita ampiamente la strada che bisogna percorrere per poterci arrivare. Peccato che gli abitanti siano scomparsi quasi del tutto. Ottimi i prodotti locali e ragionevolissimi anche i prezzi.

In any season you drive to the Plains of Castelluccio the views are breathtaking and the landscape is surprising. Be aware the high altitude makes this place a lot cooler, indeed in the 1800's when it was under the Pontiff State, they used to close it for the 3 months winter because of the frequent snowfalls and frost.
