I was told this garden was a must see by my Couch Surfing host family in Kandy. It was certainly a peaceful rest but calling it "required" viewing might be a bit of a stretch. For 1,100 Rupees it was also one of the pricer walks I've done. Perhaps I'm spoiled, coming from the Garden City (Victoria B.C. -- where... More

These are nice to visit for a short while, but unless you are extremely interested in trees and flowers there is little to occupy you. It takes about an hour to walk around the whole park, and it seems to be a good date location for many young Sri Lankans! I personally wouldn't go to the gardens again as its... More

The gardens are expansive and clean, if you have time on your hands and are looking for something to do I would say it MAY be worth a visit. If, however, you are short on time or on the fence about this place, one could easily give it a skip. The flora here isn't all that varied or asthetically landscaped.... More

I used to be a botanist and horticulturist some years ago, so visited quite a few botanical gardens. Peradeniya Garden compares very favourably, probably one of the nicest gardens I have visited, perhaps with the exception of Kew and Edinburgh RBGs - but of cause the flora is completely different here. I visited a few times during my 3 months... More

It's just gorgeous place with all plants, flowers, trees, butterflies and birds:-) we spend there 3 hours walking around and taking lots of photos. It was so cool to watch fruit bats (hundreds of them on trees) flying in daylight. 100% recommend this place, and again money well spent

Great place to walk around for part of your day. Plenty of interesting plant life to be seen, as well as Sri Lankan public displays of affection! Don't forget to bring your plus one! Highly recommended.

There are so many endemic trees and plants. You will also see parrots, fruit bats and other birds. Have enough time to enjoy that place!

Peradeniya Botanical Gardens in Kandy is a very peaceful place to visit and wander around. It has the most anazing collection of tress and a fascinating colony of fruit bats(Flying Foxes). We spent 2 hrs here but could easily have spent double the time
