All the products are handmade using an old, all traditional process which utilizes the kazani, the fireplace, no machinery is used. You will defiantly remember the taste of "graviera" (hard local cheese) and "anthotiro" (soft local cheese) that you will taste at the dairy farm. Available from November until May.Bread making takes place in Manolis Taverna, set in the mountains with beautiful surroundings. Manolis and Katerina will help you make the bread dough, work on it, and bake it in the wooden oven. Afterwards, you will taste the bread with the delicious local dishes. Manolis' family grows his own produce, organically, and so you will learn more secrets of the Cretan food and diet. « less

Loved Cretan food, specially the dry bread with herbs and tomatoes. The best Greek food I've tasted.

Simply Wonderful freshly made and lots of choice, we also buy it for home use but it was even better fresh at the location.

We had a hilarious good time with Koula - we were lucky she was still offering the course as it was nearing the end of October (and the end of the tourist season). The scene was perfect - an outdoor kitchen surrounded by stone walls. Koula is a gracious and patient hostess - with lots of interesting stories and a... More

This trip really made our holiday. The content was excellent and interesting and the food and wine at the taverna just kept on coming. As we were in an apartment we ate out every night in various tavernas but this one was vastly superior to all the others and that is after saying that the food everywhere was very good.... More

As my wife was pregnant, we could not do the usual combination, but the tourist office was very accommodating in creating a new combination on a different day in the week even as well! The owner of the visitor center (George) was our guide for the afternoon. The visit to the oil factory was interesting, with a enthusiastic guide. We got... More

Cretian bread and cheese is a delight but definitely not good for the waist line. Their bakeries bake fresh bread daily and you can have it straight from the oven. The cheese is available from the local supermarkets and is totally addictive, just add oil and olives ... and a bottle of vino - perfect picnic.

Very good food and a lot of it for less money. The modern tavernas are not as good as the traditional ones. They do not reflect the Greek tradition of food

It was very interesting to see how the bread and the cheese were made, and the people there made us so welcome and invited us to taste all their products.

A wonderful family experience. Good tasty food and above all a very lively and authentic Koula. (the host) The stories and the local feeling were as good as the cooking. A real friendly and authentic experience recommended to all.

We loved our time staying near Vamos. The region is stunning (we stayed in a nearby village, Mandarin Cottage in Litsarda) and the town of Vamos is vibrant and friendly. The girls in the Tourist Office are so friendly and helpful. They even helped us to plan our trip to Samaria Gorge, another must see. The highlight was our cooking... More
