Situated in Great Missenden where Roald Dahl lived for over 36 years, it was created as a home for the author’s archive (which visitors can see on our regular tours) and as a place to inspire creativity and a love of reading in children, about which Roald Dahl was passionate. « less

I agree with the comments about it being a little heavy going for say the under eights but that said we and our ten year old nephews had a whale of a time. Not vast or extensive but easily worth the family ticket price. This has been very professionally put together by folk with a clear commitment to and understanding... More

We visited as my son was studying some Roald Dahl books at school. It's very interactive, but it does require the children to be old enough to read and quite a bit of info at that. Did wonder whether it was of more interest to me than him as he still finds reading a lot a bit overwhelming. Probably better... More

We've just spent a lovely day in the lovely village of Great Missenden and the fantastic Roald Dahl Museum. A family ticket for £21 was very good value as we spent 4 fascinating hours there. The ticket allows you to leave the museum and wander about the village so you can visit Dahl's grave and see other locations associated with... More

We visited with 5 children aged 12, 10, 7, 6 and 4. They all enjoyed it even the 12 year old who thought it would be rubbish! I think the coffee shop also helped as it had good cakes and ice cream! We searched the internet for vouchers before we went so got a really good deal on the price... More

Great place for kids and adults. Despite its relatively small size, this museum has much to offer. There's plenty to learn about Roald's interesting life. The additional charge for the children's workshop was well worth it - but make sure that you book in advance as they are popular. I would also recommend a stroll up to the pretty parish... More

A very interesting place which showed Roald's life and how he became a writer. There were some interactive things to do but lots of reading from a young one's POV. Some lovely little shops in the village and a trail you can go on. Very nice!

We visited during the Easter holidays so it was quite busy. We have been reading several books by Roald Dahl as a family in the last couple of weeks, so decided a trip to this museum and the nearby children's gallery was a good chance to learn more about the author. Our three children, 8,5 and 2 all found plenty... More

I've actually been three times before but I loved it so much the fourth time that I had to write a review. Whether a child or adult, this well priced museum in the picturesque and quaint village of Great Missenden - less than an hour from London - is a must see in the local area and as a getaway... More

I visited on a Saturday with my wife and 2 year old son. The staff were friendly and informative and there was a a lovely buzz about the place. There was plenty for children to see and do and a lot of craft related activities. It clearly says on the Web site that it is aimed for Children between 6-12... More

We're big Roald Dahl fans and figured the museum would be a hit with our four young children familiar with his books and well worth the 45-minute drive from northwest London. Simply put, it wasn't worth the ride. We learned a lot of Roald's writing chair, his writing hut, and some interesting tid-bits about the man. But the museum failed... More
