We arrived to let the children have a look around and I decided to go in the cafe to be abruptly told that they don't do takeaways. So I got the rest of the family and decided to sit down....I don't know why, I felt like I was in the slaughterd lamb in the film "American Werewolf" and we were... More

Had a most enjoyable Sunday morning stroll around the marshes. Well equipped hides, with easy access for wheelchair and buggy. We looked for the kingfishers but didn't see any :(. We did see a bittern in flight down by the rifle range :). We have visited several times and have never been disappointed. Well informed and friendly staff. Lovely cafe... More

Lots to do for kids a free car park and wonderful staff. If you are a bird watcher it has its own unique attractions. As a photographer there is plenty to keep you amused. The cafe also serves fab home made cakes.

The RSPB acquired the marshes in 2006 and have created a spectacular birding reserve amongst the grim industrial wasteland of Purfleet and surrounds. Bordered by the Thames, a mainline railway, the A13 and within sight of the m25 at the Dartford Crossing, it seems an unlikely location for birding but it is outstanding. On our visit we saw Peregrine, Marsh... More

This is one place that you can enjoy Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. We regularly come here to walk and watch the wildlife. The views across the Thames are stunning and the variety of birds is amazing. It always looks different here depending on which season it is. The cafe serves delicious homemade cakes and soup and the staff are... More

My thoughts on this reserve are a little confused. I had read their web page so as we were passing I thought it would be nice to drop in. I expected a reserve with a lot of bird life, I was wrong. The staff was very helpful and friendly and told us what was about and even told us of... More

We visited here soon after it opened . Great visitor centre and very helpful staff. easy to get around. The staff will help you to identify birds - we are novice twitchers.
