This is a must see destination. It has a different vibe to the rest of India. I dont know if it because the Dalai Lama lives here or just the blend of Indian and Tibetan cultures but whatever it is it's wonderful. The roads are crazy - narrow, unbelievably steep, and hard work to walk up and down some. All... More

Out of Mcleod Ganj, this is a great trek, if you are not a great hiker, then its an all day event and the weather can change fast, so start early and on a good day. There is a wonderful tea house at the Half - way point... You can walk out of Mcleod Ganj, or take a tuk tuk... More

It took 5 hours to walk from McLeod Ganj to Triund and return stopping for 30 mins at the top for a packed lunch. I was walking for exercise (quickly). The views are amazing all the way and the path is easy but steep in parts. Lots of tourists take this path so it is hard to get lost. There... More

Triund was the sole reason I went to Dharamshala on my trip to North India. While my family was interested in sight seeing, I wanted my share of outdoor adventure. There is no need for a guide to go on a trek to Triund. From the Mcleodganj market find your way to the Regional Mountaineering Center, follow directions to Dharamkot... More

Not something I would have chosen for my first trek but I am glad I managed to drag myself to the top. The journey was tough and full of rough rocks and stones. But the views were amazing! We got caught in a sudden cloudburst and were totally unprepared. Note to others: Please please carry jackets and raincoats as it... More

The other possible trek was indrahar pass but this was too high an ascent in such a short time. The lake is about 3000m whereas the pass is 4300m. Although you don't sleep at 4300m after reading that you are supposed to only ascend 300m in 24hrs past 3000m it seemed like a silly idea. There were a few recommended... More

McLeodGanj is a patchworked cultural fabric. home to people from various cultures, devout Buddhists, Tibetans, tourist and anthropologists. It is home away from home, there is something for everyone in here. The winding alleyways, the markets - blindingly colorful, filled with funky stuff- trinkets, knick knacks, bags, shoes, adornments abound. Norbulingka institute located about 15 km from Mcleodganj. It is... More
