Shinjuku is special, it offers a lot, great connection point, crossroad, administrative center, packed with people round the clock, nice skyline, tall buildings, great shopping area even for those with special taste and desire, red light district, shrines and parks, nice restaurants, music in the streets, huge crossroads that remind you of a catwalk at fashion show, well dressed people... This is a quite area at night if you prefer good sleep night. If you don't, you will find restaurants, night clubs and other activities not too far away. Shinjuku Station is big and very busy, but you can go from there to anywhere in Tokyo. At the station there are three large departments stores if shopping in style is... More

From all the fantastic places Tokyo has to offer definitively Shinjuku is the least attractive. Full of big buildings with millions of white collar guys rushing and nothing really interesting to look at, otherwise you are interested in Japanese architects where you will find some emblematic buildings, like Kenzo Tanges buildings. Try other places in Tokyo like Shibuya (lots of... More

As with other big city Japanese stations, Shinjuku has mall, dining and shopping in abundance. The three Department stores , including Isotan a short walk away, are just wonderful and the staff so helpful. But not cheap as they offer a Global and Japanese selection of the finest goods.

Nice district, especially in the evening, but avoid the extremely annoying touts trying to lure you in one of the clubs, just do not perceive them and ignore them totally.

Okay, let me say, I say excellent, but without some showing around, you could get lost and hate Shinjuku. It's so busy, the train station is enormous, and there are dodgy areas on the street at night. But for people that wish to see, more real underground cultural aspects this is for that kind of traveler. Golden Gai, in Shinjuku... More

Shinjuku Station is the busiest train station by Guinness World Record and I have no doubts about it. The station, the area outside of the station and its surrounding are just filled with so many people! If you are anthropophobic, you better stay miles away from this place. Besides shopping until you literally drop. Shinjuku is such a colorful city... More
