Not as impressive as Cerveteri's Etruscan tombs, but nice to see after because the painting remained here while is it almost all gone at Cerveteri !

Again the burial sites provide the clues to life. What a pleasure to see paintings of lovely couples enjoying life almost three thousand years ago. Must see!

The painted tombs at the Necropolis of Tarquinia are wonderful. There are 12-16 buildings open (what's open changes) accessed by ~2 dozen stairs down. Well, maybe you have to go there BEFORE Herculaneum and Pompeji to find it interesting ... I was not sure what to expect visiting these tombs. So much has been lost of the centuries. These tombs are so well preserved you really get the feeling of being there....the setting is beautiful as well you really think you are walking in ancient Tarquinia
