We have always loved our stays at The Georges, but unfortunately, this last visit had its share of snafus.
We arrived in Lexington a couple of hours before the standard check-in of 3:00 and were told we would be notified when our room was ready, but even at 3:10, we still hadn't received any communication. Our room, 10, was lovely, as are all the rooms we've ever stayed in at The Georges, though it was quite cozy/snug. As a matter of fact, it was so snug, there wasn't a closet, only a small hanging bar as you immediately walk into the room that certainly wasn't adequate for any type of hanging clothes. It was great having bottles of water in the room and bathroom, but really miss (and need) a glass or two ~ don't like rinsing toothpaste from my mouth with bottled water. While we had been walking around Lexington, we noticed Haywoods, The Georges' restaurant across the street, showed "seasonal risotto" on their posted menu. As Haywoods wasn't open yet, we asked one of the staff at The Georges front desk if she knew what the rissotto was. Rather than call and find out for us, she guessed that it was probably mushroom or parmesan, which it may have been, but I was quite surprised she felt her guesses were an adequate answer, rather than actually attempting to find out the real answer. Lastly, the following morning's breakfast wasn't without incident as we experienced a longer than usual wait for our food since our breakfast was mistakenly served to another table, which meant it needed to be reprepared.
Unfortunately, it feels like there are some hiccups occurring with The Georges, but I am hoping that with some new management (thank you for your interaction, Shannon!), The Georges will be running as smoothly and seamlessly as we remember.
