Absolutely stunning venue. Great location with very helpful staff. Right in the centre of Buxton so very easy to get to. I'll definitely be back.

By far the worst hotel I've stayed in. Hotel room was dirty with stains on the wall. Bedside draws were dirty and dusty inside. Bedding had holes in it. Tiles missing in the bathroom, Bathroom door wouldn't close properly without forcing it, TV aerial had snapped off at the wall, All the screws in the bathroom were rusty as the plastic caps were missing, The rubber stopper was missing on the end of the door stop leaving a sharp edge which my partner court herself on. The room was very hot and the radiator wouldn't turn off. We joined the queue to complain and the receptionist just handed over a business card and told us to email complaints.

What a wonderful guesthouse. Fully vegetarian and as a meat eater initially I was a bit disappointed. However, there certainly wasn’t any need to have been as the food on offer was absolutely delicious. Our room was excellent with very spacious with four poster, table and chairs, mini fridge and a bowl of fresh fruit. nice bathroom and spotlessly clean.

Despite all the negative reviews, the hotel has had and is still having a facelift. Clean rooms , very friendly staff, reasonable self service dinners, great choices for breakfast. The younger members of the weekend staff could benefit from lessons in stacking plates and cutlery to carry when clearing tables, it would avoid the odd loud crash when things are dropped which adds to their nervousness, not their fault. The old lift is fine when you work out how it works. An ideal location with large car park (you have to pay is the only down side) easy access to town and close to railway station for non motorists.

The room was a bit smelly and the air con did not work. Room was quite hot.
Breakfast was cold on both days. Eggs overcooked and bacon was solid.
On the second day the restaurant had no milk. With Tesco express located right next door i would think that someone could just puck some up

This has to be one of the very best and and pleasant restaurant in an area with lots of nice restaurants.

At the moment when there are so many coffee shops, it is great to find one as unique as this.
Home made cakes, and an extensive coffee menu, ranging from straightforward Latte and Cappuccino, all the way to some things I had to ask about.
The passion and 'coffee obsessivness' of the owners shines though in every cup.
Did I mention they also roast the coffee?

Then we come to the atmosphere. It is so welcoming, and so calming that I wish it was closer to home so I could retreat there whenever life gets too much.

Very much looking forward to going back, and would have no hesitation in recommending Nocturne to anyone looking for REALLY good coffee.

From the moment we stepped into the shop, the friendly staff went above and beyond to help us get our bikes ready. They even provided a map of the trail with recommended stops!

We visited on their opening day this year, and the customer service was outstanding. This is definitely the place to go for great rental bikes on the Monsal Trail. And don't forget to grab a coffee and a chocolate bar for extra energy!

The best hotel room we've ever stayed in. We were upgraded to an executive suite and it was absolutely stunning. We had no problem parking, the breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, self service buffet, tea coffee and juice on tap. The location was ideal to visit the town centre and the bar prices were good. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the hotel was beautiful. I can't believe the negative views of this hotel, we had a perfect weekend break. Come on people....give the hotel the recognition it deserves.

Nice hotel at a good price, good food and really friendly and helpful staff.

It was only a one night stay but we ate in the hotel for both dinner and breakfast, so got to meet a fair few of the staff, all of whom were were cheeful and helpful. A good welcome on reception too. Although we went for one of the cheapest rooms it was still very pleasant and certainly more than adequate.

Felt safe & had the most fun! The instructor got a feel for our experience and what would work best for us and went from there.

We only found that this was a Britannia Hotel after booking which caused us some alarm. However we were pleasantly surprised. The welcome we received from this this tastefully preserved building was friendly and the quality of food excellent. The room was pleasant although the noise from the kitchen ventilation provided a constant hum. If we went again we would ask for a front room

Visited yesterday. Fabulous book shop with very reasonable prices. Four of us had lunch and the food was lovely. However the staff in café weren’t very amiable. They were obviously very busy but not one of them cracked a smile. After we had finished our lunch a couple of our party fancied finishing it off with some cake. I asked one of the staff what cakes they had available and was asked to go up to the counter and look for myself. She said they were all labelled. Neither my daughter nor myself could see the labels on the cakes. We sat down and then asked another member of staff what cakes were available as we couldn’t see the labels. She went away to ask another member of staff and came back with the same answer; go and look for yourself they are all labelled. I explained that we had already looked but no further information was forthcoming. We gave up on cake and coffee. I know it’s not a massive issue however I found the staff really unhelpful. They also missed out on extra sales. They really need to work on their customer service. I appreciate how busy they were but it was not a difficult request. The attitude appears to be that they couldn’t care less.

Parking - Highly recommended at Miller's Dale when venturing out to Chedale
( The Stepping Stones )
The access from Miller's Dale Station into the valley is a much better way round of doing the circular walk

The parking at Wye Dale is extremely limited for parking spaces as it's the for customers hiring from Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire and the access from the lay- by is dangerous due to an extremely steep slope

If your taking your own bikes to do the trail parking is best had at Hassop Station where there is ample parking and two free fields are allocated for parking throughout the day

Review of RedWillow

If you enjoy the ambience of a tired funeral parlour crossed with an end of the pier/end of season disco..this will suit you fine. However, be aware ladies over 55 as your custom is not a priority. Having been on the receiving end of a blatant ageist and sexist customer experience, I for one, will not visit again. The bartender requires training on diversity and inclusion.
